Empowering Pemba’s Communities for Self-Sufficiency
At Waterfall, we believe in the potential of communities to achieve self-sufficiency and independence. Our dedicated volunteers are working tirelessly to empower the people of Pemba through various business initiatives, ultimately fostering economic growth, sustainability, and self-reliance.
Our Vision:
Waterfall envisions a Pemba Island where every individual has the tools and knowledge to create a prosperous and self-sufficient future. We believe in nurturing entrepreneurship and business acumen to uplift communities and provide them with the means to control their destinies.
Our Initiatives:
1. Entrepreneurship Training: Waterfall’s volunteers provide comprehensive training in entrepreneurship and business management to individuals and groups within Pemba’s communities. We equip them with the skills needed to start and grow their businesses.
2. Microfinance Support: Access to financial resources is often the key to starting or expanding a business. Waterfall facilitates microfinance support to help budding entrepreneurs secure the necessary capital to realize their dreams.
3. Market Access and Networking: We connect local businesses with broader markets, both within and beyond Pemba Island. By fostering connections and networks, we enable community businesses to thrive and expand their reach.
4. Sustainable Agriculture and Farming: Sustainability is a core value at Waterfall. We work with local farmers to implement sustainable farming practices, ensuring a consistent source of income and a reduction in environmental impact.
5. Craft and Artisan Empowerment: Pemba Island is rich in traditional crafts and artisanal products. Our volunteers help artisans enhance their skills and access markets for their unique creations, contributing to cultural preservation and economic growth.
6.Fishing Boat Empowerment Project : Providing local communities with fishing boats, enabling sustainable livelihoods and boosting economic independence. By equipping fishermen with the necessary tools, the initiative supports food security and fosters self-reliance. This project also promotes environmental stewardship by encouraging responsible fishing practices.
Building Self-Sufficiency, One Business at a Time:
Waterfall’s business-focused initiatives are making a significant difference in the lives of Pemba’s communities. By providing the necessary knowledge, resources, and support, we are empowering individuals and groups as well as ourselves to become self-sufficient entrepreneurs, strengthening their economic independence.
